December 17 - 170 players, 14 teams. That’s the record number as SAAS hoops begins the winter trimester with eight boys teams and six girls teams. “Basketball has always been our cornerstone sport in the winter,” said Athletic Director Cathy Schick. “But this year is unprecedented. The program's numbers continue to grow, and we actually had to add a couple of teams to accommodate all the kids.”

Because of the record turnout, the boys added two teams from last year, one at the high school level and one on the middle school level. The SAAS gym will host 75 games this winter, and overall the Cardinals will play over 175 basketball games.

“We look forward to a very busy and a very exciting winter season,” said Cathy. “We’ve got a great coaching staff, and this season will be a great experience for all the athletes involved.” 

You can catch all 14 teams in action at Seattle Academy’s annual Basketball Mania. This year’s event will take place in the SAAS gym on December 18. Games start at 12:15 and run all day and into the night with the girls' varsity scheduled to tip-off at 7 PM and the boys' varsity at 8:30.
