First Student Costumer's Show Opens

by Christine Tschirgi, Seattle Academy Costumer

February 25 - Scenes from American Life is opening in the Black Box Theater tonight. It stars a fabulous cast of 10 students who have done an incredible job with a very mature and challenging piece of theater. They all play multiple roles during the evening and are accompanied on the piano by KC Helmeid who has directed a great show.

Scenes for American Life is also Tara Gainer's '11 first costume design. The script for this particular show jumps around in time and place and Tara used all of her skills – both academic and artistic - to read and analyze the text and choose simple costume pieces that help tell this story. Most importantly she has shown great dedication to the process by continuing to alter and perfect her choices through the technical process. This kind of diligence and commitment to a task is something to celebrate. Please congratulate her when you see her.
