September 9, 2009 - Seattle Academy held their first ever middle school field day last Friday. The day was a huge success with the entire middle school participating in games and contests throughout the day.
“Many, many thanks for a terrific Middle School Field Day,” said the Head of the Middle School, George Burpee. “I’d like to thank the entire Physical Education Department and middle school faculty for organizing, managing, coaching & leading all of the events from start to finish. Excellent work all around!”
The day at Volunteer Park began with three separate capture the flag games with the 6th, 7th and 8th grades separated into two teams each. After lunch, the students were divided into twenty teams of 12 students, each coached by a member of the middle school faculty. All students competed in games such as the three-legged race, water balloon toss and a variety of relays. The exciting, fun day came to an end with the tug-of-war, with the entire middle school surrounding and cheering on the final two teams.
"I think everyone had a great time," said PE Chair Cathy Schick. "The kids had so much fun and the staff was great. I think the field day was a tremendous success.
