Class of 2010 Seniors Honored

February 5 - This past week, Seattle Academy honored some of their standout athletes of the class of 2010 with a pair of special events.

SENIOR NIGHT
Tuesday night was senior night at Seattle Academy as both the girl’s and boy’s basketball programs honored their graduating seniors. Two girls, Lanise Laube and Marissa Rudd and four boys, Max Braseth, Drew Helgren, Zeke Sarju and Josh Sloan, were honored as they played their final game in front of the home crowd. Both the girls and boys teams responded with big victories in their final regular season home game.

“This class has so many great athletes as members,” said Athletic Director Cathy Schick. “Each of these six players brought their own particular attributes and strengths to our basketball program. We thank them for their contributions and wish them the best in all of their future endeavors.”

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT DAY
Wednesday was College Letter of Intent Day with four outstanding Seattle Academy seniors officially committing to Division I colleges. The Cardinals honored the four athletes with a ceremony in the gym at lunch in front of family, friends and faculty, with the four athletes officially committing to their school of choice by signing their letters of intent.

Soccer standout and a member of the girl’s varsity two-time 1A state champions; Achijah Berry signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Oregon. Her teammate, Sierra Keeler, the all-time leading scorer in SAAS soccer history, signed a letter of intent to attend Colorado College.

Baseball extraordinaire Peter Summerville, who played catcher and batted a team-high .370, signed a letter of intent to attend the Santa Clara University, while squash standout Chris Jung , a national champion and number one ranked player in the country for his age group, accepted an offer to attend Dartmouth University.

“We wish the best for all four of these exceptional athletes, both on and off the playing field,” said Cathy. “Each one of them is going to a great college. All four of them have been so successful in their own unique way and they will certainly all be missed.”
